Βιογραφικό του Sir Stelios Hadji-ioannou:

Stelios is best known for creating the easyJetbudget airline in 1995, when he was just 28. In 2000 he floated the company that has revolutionized European air travel on the London Stock Exchange – since then he and his family have remained its largest shareholders with a near 37% stake. (easyJet is now a member of the prestigious FTSE-100 index, making it one of the largest UK public companies by market value.)

Stelios keeps the ownership of the ‘easy’ brand, (including easyJet) in his private investment company, easyGroup, based in Monaco and London. He has since extended the brand to other sectors – all dedicated to offering consumers more value for less. These include: easyBus , easyHotel, easyCar, easyOffice and easyGym – all contributing a royalty income stream to easyGroup. Other new and exciting ventures are planned for 2014 and beyond.(Details at www.easy.com)

Prior to founding the airline, Stelios set up the Stelmar shipping company in 1992 – with financial help from his late father Loucas – himself a self-made shipping tycoon. Stelmar was floated on the New York Stock Exchange in 2001 and subsequently sold to a rival in 2005 for four times the initial share price.

In 2006, at the age of 39, Stelios received a knighthood from HM Queen Elizabeth II for services to entrepreneurship. Since 2009 he has been the Honorary General Consul for the Republic of Cyprus in the Principality of Monaco. He is a graduate of the London School of Economics and has a masters degree from the City University in London.

In the last eight years the Stelios Philanthropic Foundation, now a registered charity in both Monaco and the UK, has shown his dedication to giving back to society by launching a number of charitable initiatives supporting entrepreneurship, education and the environment in the UK, Greece and Cyprus. Here the financial crisis currently facing the island has prompted Stelios to set up “food from the heart” – a charitable initiative giving a free lunchtime snack to the needy in Limassol. Plans are in hand to open up additional relief centres in Nicosia and Athens.
